Nathaniel R. Ewan's HABS photograph of the 1764 Sandy Hook Lighthouse, exterior looking north from the south lawn, made 10 May 1937 under Works Progress Administration Official Project 165-22-6-999. The octagonal stone shaft against a bright spring sky; a small figure in the lower right for scale; the entry door and lower-tier windows clearly visible in the raked light. HABS documentation surveys are U.S. federal government works and are in the public domain.
