Highland Beach, foot of Sandy Hook

A hand-colored postcard of the bay-side swimming area at Highland Beach, ca. 1928. A wooden floating raft sits in shallow water at center with bathers around and on it; a diving platform on the sand at lower left carries children in period bathing suits. A small excursion steamer and a private motor cruiser sit in the bay beyond; a red-hulled speedboat cuts across the middle distance. The Sandlass Pavilion complex is visible at right with a small American flag on its cupola.
