The Sandlass family house at Highland Beach, seen from the road, ca. 1935. Two-and-a-half-story stucco house with a hipped roof and chimney; wooden bathhouses adjoin at right. A large white billboard-sized sign in the foreground reads SANDLASS BATHS — the family's official business name for the beach-and-bathhouse operation, distinct from the Bamboo Room bar side. This is the building that would be renumbered Building 600 by the Army in 1938 and remains standing today.
