Four women in period bathing costume — dark wool suits with white swim caps — pose in a wooden rowboat pulled up on the sand beside the Sandlass bathhouse row at Highland Beach, ca. 1918. The bathhouse building at right carries a large HB monogram painted on its gable. A screened-porch cottage sits at left. One of the women waves at the camera; the light and the mood suggest a candid family or friends photograph rather than a formal portrait or postcard.
