The Merry-Go-Round pavilion — color, later era, ca. 1955
ca. 1955
Highland Beach, foot of Sandy Hook
The Merry-Go-Round pavilion at Highland Beach in a later color photograph, ca. 1955. The MERRY GO-ROUND signage still runs across the wooden facade; a fresh RESTAURANT sign is mounted on a pole at left. Blue window trim on the ground floor windows. A picket-fence portico juts out at the left of the entrance. Mown grass in the foreground. The Highlands ridge is visible at far left. The carousel building is still functioning at this date — one of the last years before the state condemnation ended the club's operation entirely in 1962.
