A hand-coloured postcard of bathers on a floating dock and in the shallows of the river, with a long cabana row behind them carrying the words HIGHLAND BEACH in letters a bay wide

Bathing in the River, Highlands, N.J., c. 1915

ca. 1915

Highland Beach, foot of Sandy Hook

A hand-coloured postcard of the river side of the strip, captioned Bathing in the River, Highlands, N.J. The cabana row runs the full width of the frame with HIGHLAND BEACH lettered across it, one letter to a bay. Bathers in full-length woollen costume stand on a floating dock in the foreground and swim in the shallows; a rowboat sits off to the right. This is the Shrewsbury side — the resort sold both waters.
