Highland Beach, Sandy Hook peninsula (approx)

Highland Beach in its later years — the cottages, the long rows of bathhouses, and the road running the length of the spit behind a rock seawall, the bay on one side and the ocean on the other. The beach club ran for sixty-two summers until the state took the land and cleared it in 1962.
