The Liberty Pole, Twin Lights bluff
April 25, 1893 — Francis Bellamy's new Pledge of Allegiance is read for the first time as an official national ceremony at the dedication of the 135-foot Liberty Pole, deliberately sited on the Highlands bluff where millions of arriving immigrants got their first look at America.
