A hand-coloured postcard captioned HIGHLANDS BEACH, HIGHLANDS, N.J., looking north along the strip. The railroad runs at left with a locomotive and flat cars on it; the resort buildings stand between the track and the road; the ocean is at right, with bathers in the surf beyond a groyne. The whole foreground is the rock revetment piled along the ocean side. The building the Park Service now numbers 600 stands here in its original position, between the track and the roadway, eighteen years before the hurricane that moved it.
