One of the twelve patentees named in the Monmouth Patent of April 8, 1665, by which deputy governor Richard Nicolls granted a triangular tract running from Sandy Hook west to the mouth of the Raritan, up the river about twenty-five miles, and southeast to Barnegat Bay. The patentees were mostly Long Island Quakers and Baptists, mostly out of Gravesend. With James Grover and Richard Hartshorne, one of the three grantees named in the 1674 Warumnonung deed held at Princeton.
