The swim instructor at the Sandlass Beach Club, remembered by Hank Sandlass in his 2004 oral history: a clipboard, a whistle, and — in Hank's telling — never once setting foot in the water. Everything known about him comes from that interview. The spelling of his surname is the transcript's, which flags it as uncertain, and his first name and dates are not recorded anywhere we can reach.
